We’re Getting Married!
October 12, 2024
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank each and every one of you. We knew for years that we were meant to be, but sharing our day with all of you and seeing you have so much fun truly meant the world to us!
Thanks to our vendors who helped make it such a special day for everyone:
Officiant: Tom Keady
Tent and Accessories:
Mike Sloven has been a friend of Nick’s since 8th Grade at Wisdom Lane Middle School in Levittown. He could not have been more understanding, accommodating, and professional. His entire staff, led by Tito, set everything up to make it look even better than we could have imagined. The sailcloth tent was like something out of a wedding we’d expect to see in a movie. We were so lucky to have our entire ceremony and reception in such a perfect setting. Without the tent and everything that AAA Party Rental provided, it would not have been the wedding we imagined. Thank you for all your great ideas, letting us tour the warehouse, rolling with any changes along the way, and for such a seamless set-up and break-down. We can’t thank Mike and his entire staff enough!
Photography:
Another friend of over 10 years, Liz started her first conversation with Nick with “I’m not a wedding photographer.” We’re happy to say that she could have fooled us. All of the photos were absolutely beautiful. She not only made the entire experience so much easier and less stressful, but she helped us destress and made us laugh along the way. In addition to being a wonderful person, Liz is a true artist and when you hire her, you’re getting someone that will see the things that you may have missed and will capture the moments that you will appreciate forever. She’s also a fan of rubber chickens. If you know, you know. She’s also a graphic designer and web designer. She does it all! Thank you so very much, Liz. Hanging your beautiful photos in our home genuinely makes us smile every day and you’ll always be a very special part of our life! Anyone who hires you is so lucky.
Venue:
East Meadow Firefighters Benevolent Hall
Maybe Nick is biased for being a member of the Benevolent Association for 25 years, but it was a perfect choice for our wedding. The hall is a great venue for smaller events of under 100 people, but when you factor in the huge backyard which was where we had our wedding, you can have even bigger events. They’ve recently upgraded the restrooms and the hall, they have a bar, kitchen, and DJ booth, and did we mention the yard? It’s even a great place to have a large BBQ in the summer. You can bring in outside vendors or hire staff from the association. From the booking of the event with Gio to everyone worked the day of our wedding, including our “quarterback” Joe, they couldn’t have been more helpful or made it easier. Click their link above if you’d like to rent the hall or get additional info.
Music:
We were referred to David of Expressway Music by a friend of a friend and it was the best thing that could have happened to us. A love for concerts is one of the first things that we shared and when Nick contacted David, it ended up being an hour long conversation on the phone about past concert experiences and shared musical interests. It was obvious that this was definitely our guy. David did not disappoint and played exactly what we wanted to hear in such a seamless perfect way. There wasn’t a single thing we would change about the job he did. Too many DJs force their own preferences into other people’s events, but David is a consummate professional and I guess it doesn’t hurt that he has great taste in music. Five stars isn’t high enough of a rating and we can’t recommend you enough. We will always appreciate your role in our special day and truly thank you!
Food and Dessert:
Nick’s family have been customers at Iavarone Brothers for years and used them for several parties in the past, but none was more important than our wedding. Jon was so extremely helpful with coming up with a great menu, including designing exactly the cake we wanted. Even up until the last minute, Jon and his chef helped with alternative standalone dishes for guests with serious food allergies. I don’t think they need any recommendation around NYC or Long Island, but we’ll be customers for life.
When another dessert vendor fell through (in wildly unprofessional fashion), we decided that an ice cream truck. Helen and the team at Van Leeuwen couldn’t have been more helpful and as you can tell by the photos, the ice cream truck was probably the highlight of the day for many, kids and adults alike. We were able to split the order into half-dairy and half-vegan and everything was delicious. We definitely felt like the cool kids with the Van Leeuwen truck at our wedding.
Hotels:
Columbus Day Weekend bookings and local golf tournaments made availability difficult, but Keroll and Jessica were really helpful in accommodating family coming in from out of town and setting up a reservation block split between the Hyatt Place and Marriott Residence Inn.
The Garden City Hotel staff was wonderful and made us Newlyweds feel so special!
